Foreign Policy
Mahnoor’s commitment is to a foreign policy that is rooted deeply in the principles of peace, justice, and the unwavering protection of human rights across the world. The complexities of today’s international conflicts demand a nuanced, empathetic approach, and Mahnoor is committed to the need for the US to reclaim its position as adept diplomatic leaders rather than rely on military might and trillions of our tax dollars.
Anyone with a moral compass can see that we need to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, that we need to stop unconditionally funding the Israeli military and Netanyahu’s right wing extremist agenda, and that we need to pressure the Israeli government towards actual diplomacy and not further military occupation. Both Palestinians and Israelis have the right to coexist peacefully. We cannot boil the issue down to “Israel has the right to exist”. We need to focus on building a lasting peace that doesn’t favor one side over the other but favors equality and champions human rights.
- Prioritize diplomacy: Prioritize and emphasize diplomatic and political solutions first and foremost.
- Oppose endless wars: This includes being the only candidate in this race to call for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and an immediate end to the occupation.
- Support Stop Politicians Profiting from War Act to prevent elected officials and their families from have any financial interest in any war and military actions.
- Call for accountability in how our military spends money, takes military action, and how we support our allies globally. All aid should comply with the Leahy Law which prohibits the US State Department from providing military assistance to anyone violating human rights with impunity.
